Motivation & Procrastination

  • Sometimes to overcome procrastination all we need is a small nudge in the right direction to get us started .

  • At other times lack of motivation can illustrate the fact that we are no longer enjoying what we are doing.

  • Often procrastination represents a need for change in our lives. Embracing the change is often the best remedy.

We always begin with the simplest approach first and then address more complex factors if necessary.

Extended information about hypnosis for motivation.

Often client's will come to me and say "If I could just get motivated then everything alse would be ok." Often what they are saying, more precisely, is that they believe that once they get a certain task done they will feel better in general. Sometimes this is exactly the case and hypnosis can be used directly to move beyond the procrastination and develop strong motivation in a particular area.

This approach is often very useful for people such as writers, painters or musicians suffering from creative blocks. This is an approach suitable for most people who are motivated in other areas of their live's and who just seem to be stuck on one particular task. Sometimes it is just the getting started that they need assistance with and once begun the task is accomplished efficiently and comfortably. For example, often clients who come for help with weight loss just need a nudge to get on the treadmill or out for a walk and they find once there that they begin to really enjoy the routine.

On the other hand, there are times when procrastination can be the result of something else altogether. Sometimes we are trying to force ourselves to do things we feel we should do rather than things we actually want to do. Our subconscious minds can be very persistent in helping us to avoid activities in life that are no longer helping us to grow and express ourselves. Sometimes procrastination or lack of motivation actually represents a changing time in our lives, a time to re-assess certain things about our current lifestyle, career, hobbies etc.

Clinical hypnosis can be utilised very effectively for this kind of self discovery. Sometimes people are relieved to discover that they are not lazy after all but that they have just lost the passion for what they are currently doing. Hypnosis can also be used to identify new areas that the person can explore or even old areas of interest that can be revisited. Of course hypnosis can also be used to build the confidence required to accept and embrace the changes as they develop.
