Hypnotherapy Services
The primary service I provide is Clinical Hypnotherapy. This means using hypnosis as a tool to achieve the hypnotic trance state and then to use the trance state to assist in achieveing the therapeutic goals that we set at the begining of the session. The session also contains a counseling component while we discuss the issue for which you have sought help.
What can Clinical Hypnotherapy be used to treat?
The short answer is that clincal hypnotherapy can help for anything that is caused, affected or made worse by the way you think or feel. The links on the right of the page offer more information about some of the common issues for which people come to see me. This is not a complete list because people still pleasantly surprise me by the ways in which they make use of the trance state to address their own issues in a variety of ways.
Often someone will ring me on the phone and ask something like "Do you think hypnosis can help with...." If it is a common issue such as those in the list on the right then the answer is obviously yes. On the otherhand if it is something unusual or very specific then the answer is normally also yes because there is a lot of significance in the fact that the person with the issue has come to the conclusion that hypnosis may be able to help. This illustrates to me that part of them somewhere knows that the answer is already within them. This is one of the fundamental principles of clinical hypnotherapy.
Most of the things for which people seek help through clinical hypnotherapy could be put into 5 main catagories:
- They want to change their behaviour, including bad habits.
- They want to understand themselves better, including their motivations and inhibitions.
- They want to manage or be rid of physical pain or symptoms.
- They want to be better at something.
- They don't know why but they feel they need help.
Sometimes hypnosis is presented, by some, as a quick cure for everything. This is simply not true even though it is a very versatile and useful tool and at times the results can be quick and significant. More often than not though clinical hypnosis can help people to make important, if even small, changes in the right direction. This in itself can generate significant changes in a person's experience of life. At the end of the day clinical hypnotherapy is a practical approach to therapy. Rather than talk over the same things again and again. We aim to get results, some sort of change that can lead to a more fulfilling or at least more comfortable experience of life.
